My name is Patrick Scara and I am a psychotherapist based in western Washington state. I have 8 years of experience working in the behavioral healthcare field. In 2016, I started out working in direct patient care at an involuntary psychiatric hospital. There, I worked with a broad spectrum of individuals diagnosed with varying mental health needs. Spending so much time with people who are often overlooked or unattended in our community, I learned the crucial healing power of relationships and the simplicity of a patient, listening ear. My work there moved me to gain more expertise to be better able to help those seeking support. Over the past 6 years, I've provided effective therapy to couples and individuals, creating unique relationships with each client to foster deep exploration and growth, beyond basic coping skills.
I'm creating this space to share my experiences, reflections, and curiosity around therapy, and our individual and collective biopsychosocial health. This is not intended to be a place to find answers but rather questions to make us think, feel, sense, and intuit. My goal is to inspire intention, compassion, and new perspectives. I hope that in doing so I cultivate a grounded and open-minded community that dissects relevant topics to better comprehend ourselves and the world we live in.
As a therapist, I've learned much, but I'm continually reminded that two seemingly contradictory truths can coexist. I challenge you to be conscious of this as you read through these entries as well as in your daily life.
Thanks for reading.
